Perth is again in the spotlight to host the 2018 Australian National Championships. The Perth Blokart Club put on one of the best World Championships in 2012, and will have big boots to fill to match that event.
Lake Wallyungup, South of Perth, and part of the Rockingham Shire, set the location for the 2018 Aussie Nationals. For those who have sailed there previously, you’ll be eager to get back, for those who haven’t been prior, you’re in for a great surprise. A hard and fast surface, and with the Freo Doctor, makes for some very exciting sailing.
The Perth Blokart Club will be launching the Notice of Race anytime now, and they’ll have an automated entry list added to their website. We’ll be able to see how has entered as they enter and what the weight divisions are looking like. I’m sure for many of us, we have some rivals to sail off against, yeah, it’s the usual guys, but the best thing is, we all have a laugh and beer at the end, then start planning our next meet.
New Zealand Championships are being run in October this year, and anyone who is keen to get some close fleet racing under your belt, then Christchurch is just the place to do that. The usual guys will be there, and they are the ones we all learn from, it’s certainly worth the trip.
As news comes out about the Aussie Champs, we’ll let you know.
